My last day of SOLIDS!

I went shopping for fruits and veggies today -- came back with teaming bags -- and I got really excited!

I was overwhelmed and delighted at the selection of organic produce at The Market on Yates. They even had organic pineapples and blood oranges! I was even able to pick up a couple young coconuts...as the milk inside reportedly is likened to blood plasma. I found it amusing that I walked around and around looking for a cart and finally was able to locate one. The Market is usually used by the quick-pick-up shoppers, not the haul-around-a-buggy type -- but really it should be! -- Hey, they even had organic kumquats! That's not an every day thing.

Happily entering the land of the All-Mighty Juice!

Slight trepidation!

All of sudden kick-off day is a lot closer!  Saturday is the big moment.  Though I am wholly excited, I do have some trepidation and anxieties creeping in.  I enjoy food, and have some worries over how I'll minimize my cravings.  I will still be handling food -- preparing school lunches and snacks for Simi (my daughter), as well as for Paddy (though he already fulfills this role almost single-handedly, due my inability to hold things well because of the constantly shakey hands -- what a blessing:  A Domestic-God in Carharts!)  ...  the other day we went out for Sunday brunch...I ate until I hurt!  It seems like I'm in slight panic mode: 'better get it all in before I can't anymore!' (which I know, couldn't be any good!)
I have been intgrating juice slowly into my diet, so that it's not a brutal awakening on March 1st.  One thing I tried the other day was I juiced an entire pineapple (which created just shy of one litre), kept it separate, then used it to sweeten/dilute the green concoctions.  Was a success at making things more palatable!
Perhaps my greatest fear is traveling.  Mid-March I take off for four days in Berkeley California.  Being that it's Berkeley, there is a plethora of potential places to get freshly made juice.  Not a problem there.  At the end of March, I have to head back to the University of Michigan Hospital for 4 days.  Assuming I'm still feasting at this point (which I plan to be), I will need to find a method to go get 3 days worth of juice from somewhere and lug it all to the hospital.  I fear doctors and nurse reactions....but more so, just getting the juice!  I was told of one juice bar in Ann Arbor...and I'm hoping that by the time I land in Detroit in the evening, I will be able to get to Ann Arbor, juice-up, and go to bed.  You see, I won't be able to leave the hospital once I'm there.  Ahhh...but things work out as they should.  There will be a way!
It is so thrilling to me that there is quite the substantial community of Juice feasters accumulating in Victoria and globally (www.globaljuicefeast.com) -- and in royal style, we will kick off the event/transformation/movement with a juice-luck at Constanze's the Saturday!

Let's get juicy!

Valentine's Day Juice Party!

I found the best way to celebrate Valentines Day -- having a juice party with Ariel Rubin (www.arielsjuicejourney.blogspot.com) and Hezzie Cunliffe!  We gathered at noon, and made two amazing juices to share.
The first: cilantro, grapefruit, one lemon, and garlic!   This combination would have never crossed my mind as one to try!  But I loved it!  I was told that the grapefruit and garlic work in combination, so as to nullify the effect of having garlic breath all day.  It made such a delectably sumptuous green colour, too.  Irresistable.
The second: blood orange and mint!
Holy cow!  This juice was phenomenal!  A must-try for everyone.
It was really fun to get together for our health and fun!  What an excuse!
The girls commented on how they liked the juice from my Samson juicer a wee bit more than juice from a blender. Now, I'm in the process of amassing the extras I'll need during the feast: bee pollen, green superfood (Vitamineral Green is in the mail -- organic and wildcrafted), coconut oil and still to get: hemp seed oil, an enema kit, a dry-skin brushing brush.  I'm not sure at this point about MSM or the other cell renewal solutions as recommended by David and Katrina Rainochek (www.juicefeasting.com) -- as I already take my zinc acetate for my Wilson's Disease, I don't want to start complicating things.
And my other exceedingly good piece of news is that, I was approved to receive disability payements....so there will be some moula to cover these costs!

The countdown is on! 17 days to go!

I've got two confessions to make: I'm new to blogging and secondly, I'm new to juicing.  So, this might be a process of needing to bear with me.
That said...I am so excited to get this Juice Feast underway!  My Samson juicer arrived about a week ago, and I understand its quirks, we are starting out on the right foot together (a couple problems: a crucial part came undone during the shipping process, and it has a tendency to loosen itself and come apart while juicing! -- found the solution to that too).  I'm doing the juicer route, instead of the blender w/nut mylk bags because of my shaking hands.  Straining juice through the pulp bags seemed like a green Jackson Pollocak painting in the waiting.
I must say, I felt very chic leaving the vegetable store with a bag teaming with fresh, organic veggies.  I came home, and started juicing.  I figured that some practice runs, plus integrating juice into my system before the big event was crucial.  (This is unlike me...take my Vipassana practice for instance.  The first time I'd ever meditated was Day 1 of my 10-Day silent retreat.  And, it was wonderful!
The first night, Simi (my daughter) and I juiced up a bunch of carrots.  Since they weren't peeled ahead of time, they tasted a wee but earthy.  My friend Jessica came over and we had a juice party with great results!  I've made juice several times since then, and learned the hard way of just how potent an all-green juice can be.
I've got my Vitamineral Green Superfood being shipped to me now, and I'm awaiting news from the government in the nest couple days that I'll get a disability pension (hopefully!) -- and then I'll be able to afford this feast!
Thanks so much...your support is the best...and a shout-out to friends: we best get together for lunch within the next few weeks!
